WEST CHESTER, Pa. - - The Wilmington University track and field teams gave one last effort in the 2026 season, competing at the West Chester University Last Chance Meet on Friday at Farrell Stadium.
The meet was highlighted by three season bests for the Wildcats, competing one last time to improve their marks for an NCAA National Championship bid.
On the women's side, Sytieia Brown had a season's second-best mark in the shot put, winning the event with a distance of 12.47 meters. She beat the field by nearly two meters. Amy Chomo ran the 5000-meter event for the first time this season, crossing the line in 21:26.60.
The 4x100-meter relay team set a season's fastest time, as Xavier Bin-Yusif, Donte Dockery, Jaden Williams, and Elijah Gillis ran to a time of 41.78 seconds, 0.10 seconds faster than last weekend. Irvin Marable continues to set new marks in the 400-meter hurdles event, going even faster than last weekend at the CACC Championship, finishing fifth overall with a time of 54.40 seconds. Bin-Yusif ran the 100-meter race in 11.00 seconds flat to finish fourth while Jaden Williams went fifth fastest at 11.01 seconds. Gillis also ran the 400-meter in 51.28 seconds, finishing 10th overall.
In the field events, Sam Distler set a new season's best in the shot put, finishing third overall with a distance of 14.09 meters. Rob Powell finished third overall with a jump of 6.58 meters, while Christian Dollard competed in the discus and hammer. Dollard finished third in the hammer with a toss of 43.36 meters and sixth in the discus with a toss of 38.82 meters. Samir Barber also finished second overall in the triple jump, going for 13.04 meters.
