NEWARK, Del. - - For the second year in a row, Wilmington University track and field student-athlete Donte Dockery will compete for an NCAA Division II National Championship, qualifying for the 2026 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
Donte Dockery (Wilmington, Del.) is the only Wildcat to ever qualify for the National Championships in the program's eight-year existence and is now a two-time participant. He finished third last year in the triple jump with a program record jump of 16.19 meters in this final attempt.
The junior qualified fifth overall into this year's National Championship with a season's best leap of 15.67 meters. That season's best jump came at the 2026 Morgan State Legacy Track and Field Meet on April 18. Dockery has won triple jump events at the Danny Curran Invitational (15.37 meters), the Morgan State Legacy Meet (15.67 meters), the CACC Championships (15.07 meters), and finished third at the Penn Relays (15.56 meters).
The NCAA selected 22 triple jumpers and Dockery is the lone jumper from the East Region and the CACC. The field of 22 jumpers are looking up to Washburn's Justin Forde who qualified first with a season's best mark of 16.64 meters.
The triple jump event is set to take place on the third day of the National Championships, starting at 3:15 p.m. eastern time on Saturday, May 23.
