Emma Brown Records 22-Rebound Double-Double in CACC Loss to Goldey-Beacom

NEWARK, Del. - - Emma Brown secured a double-double with 14 points and a Wilmington University women's basketball NCAA era second-best 22 rebounds on Tuesday night, but Goldey-Beacom slipped past the Wildcats, 70-56, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action at the WU Athletics Complex.

Emma Brown's full stat line was just as impressive, as she added six steals, four assists, and two blocks in the game as well. Twelve (12) of her 22 rebounds came on the offensive glass. The 22 rebounds were three shy of tying the team's NCAA era record of 25 set by Jordan Hawkins on December 14, 2015. Her six steals were also two shy of tying the program record of eight in a single game.

The Wildcats (0-9, 0-4 CACC) led, 3-2, before the Lightning (1-7, 1-3 CACC) used a 10-0 run to take a 12-3 advantage. The Lightning led by as many as 14 points, 19-5, in the first quarter before the Wildcats battled back. The Wildcats ended the first quarter on a 6-0 run, getting a bucket from TyKeisha Hill, a free throw from Brown, and a three-pointer from Samiyah McFarlane.

The run continued into the start of the second quarter, as Reynah Rattliff hit a three-pointer, and TyKeisha Hill had back-to-back buckets to complete the 13-0 run and get all the way to within 19-18. Rattliff put in another layup to again bring the Wildcats to within one and Emma Brown had a layup to make it 25-22 with 4:25 to play in the half. But the Lightning hit the Wildcats with an 11-0 run with the three-pointer, hitting three in the run to regain a 36-22 lead. Emma Brown was able to score five of the final seven points of the half as the Wildcats went into the break down 38-27.

Reynah Rattliff and Emma Brown started the third quarter with buckets to bring the Wildcats to within 38-31, but the Lightning were always able to keep the Wildcats at an arms' length. Brown had a steal and a layup to make it a 49-40 deficit with 4:25 to play but a quick five points put the Lightning back on top by 14. The Wildcats had it to within 11, but the Lightning scored the final four points of the quarter to take a 60-45 lead into the final frame.

The Wildcats were able to dwindle the lead to within 11 in the fourth quarter but could never get it into single digits. Armani Bell-Jackson scored seven points int eh fourth quarter while Brown finished with four rebounds in the frame to get to 22 total.

Reynah Rattliff added 13 points and four rebounds while TyKeisha Hill and Armani Bell-Jackson finished with nine points each. Tianna Neal finished with five rebounds, second most on the team.

The Wildcats are home once again for their next contest, hosting Millersville on Friday afternoon. The nonconference game is slated for 2:00 p.m. inside the WU Athletics Complex.
