NEWARK, Del. - - Freshman Reynah Rattliff scored 13 points to go with nine rebounds and six assists, but Chestnut Hill used an 11-2 run going into the halftime break to separate itself, leading to an 82-55 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball finish inside the WU Athletics Complex on Tuesday night.
It was an eight-point game with 3:12 to play in the second quarter, but the Griffins (7-7, 4-2 CACC) finished the frame strong, going on to win the second quarter, 21-11, and take a 17-point lead into the halftime break. The Wildcats' best quarter was a 21-point effort in the third quarter, but then the Griffins extended the lead with a 21-12 fourth quarter, settling on the final score.
Emma Brown started the game in her typical junior season style, putting in an offensive rebound for the 2-0 lead. Chestnut Hill scored the next 10 points, but the Wildcats hung around as Armani Bell-Jackson's three-pointer with 1:50 to left in the quarter had the Wildcats to within 16-11. The Griffins held an 18-11 lead after the first quarter.
Early buckets from Reynah Rattliff and Armani Bell-Jackson brought the Wildcats to within 21-15, and then buckets from TyKeisha Hill and Mya Nisbet had the Wildcats back to within 28-20 with 3:12 before the halftime break. A Griffin 6-0 run made it 37-21 and then a floater with five seconds left gave the visitors a 39-22 lead at the break.
The Griffins took as large a 25-point lead in the third quarter before the Wildcats' offense started clicking. TyKeisha Hill had an old-fashioned three-point play to cap an individual 5-0 run and then Rattliff put in a layup to continue the 9-0 run. It ended as a 10-0 run for the Wildcats, getting to within 49-34. The Wildcats would get to within 16 points twice more, but the Griffins' final bucket made it a 22-21 third quarter for the visitors and a 61-43 lead.
Chestnut Hill used a 10-0 run early in the fourth quarter to take a 77-48 lead before settling on the 82-55 final score.
In addition to Ratliff, Armani Bell-Jackson came off the bench to score a team-high 15 points while adding six rebounds. TyKeisha Hill added 11 points and six rebounds while Emma Brown added eight rebounds and a game-high 11 rebounds with three steals.
