Emma Brown’s Double-Double and Armani Bell-Jackson’s 17 Points Not Enough as Post Bests Women’s Basketball

NEWARK, Del. - - Emma Brown secured her third double-double of the season but Post got off to a fast start in winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest, 86-48, on Saturday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

Emma Brown scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, attacking the offensive glass with six offensive boards. She currently leads the CACC and is 14th in all of NCAA Division II in averaging 4.4 offensive rebounds a game. Armani Bell-Jackson led the Wildcats in scoring, coming off the bench to score 17 points in the loss.

Emma Brown put in an offensive putback to tie the game, 2-2, but then went 0-for-8 the rest of the quarter, including 0-of-6 from the foul line to remain scoreless the rest of the way. Post scored the next 15 points, taking a 17-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The run continued for one more bucket to start the second half for the Eagles, as they opened a 19-2 lead before Emma Brown put in another offensive putback. The Eagles used a 13-2 run to take a 40-10 lead before Armani Bell-Jackson hit a three-pointer and Emma Brown had a steal and a layup to close out the half, 40-15.

The Eagles used a 6-0 run to take a 49-20 lead, winning the third quarter, 23-17, to take a 63-32 lead into the fourth quarter.

Armani Bell-Jackson scored seven points in the third quarter and added five more in the fourth quarter to lead the Wildcats. The Eagles won the fourth quarter, 23-16, to close out the scoring and the game.

Armani Bell-Jackson shot 5-of-12 from the floor, including 2-of-5 from deep, and 5-of-8 form the foul line for her 17 points. Sparkle Leigh added six points and three rebounds while TyKeisha Hill chipped in with four points, five rebounds, and two assists.

The Wildcats hit the road for a midweek game, heading to Georgian Court on Tuesday night. The game in Lakewood, New Jersey, will start at 5:00 p.m.
