NEWARK, Del. - - For the first time since 2011, the Wilmington University women's lacrosse team boasts an All-American, as junior standout Ella Royer was named to the USA Lacrosse Division II Women's All-American Third Team following her record-breaking season.

Ella Royer becomes the Wildcats' fourth All-American in program history, joining Danielle Niccoli (Third Team), Jess Graybeal (Third Team), Liz Case (Honorable Mention), and Eliza Burk (Honorable Mention), who were named USA College Lacrosse Women's Division II All-Americans in 2011.

Ella Royer (Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada) set a new NCAA DII single-season record with 122 goals, scoring 6.42 goals per game, and finishing second in the nation with 148 points, averaging 7.79 points per game. She also finished tops in the CACC and eighth in the country in averaging 7.16 draws per game, fourth in the CACC and 31st in the country in averaging 3.16 ground balls per game, and sixth in the CACC and 45th in the country in averaging 1.89 caused turnovers per game.

She scored 10 goals in a game twice this season, including in the CACC Tournament First Round game against Bridgeport in which she broke the NCAA DII single-season record with her 116th goal of the season. She set a new career high with 12 points in that game, adding two assists as well. She also scored 10 goals against Holy Family and nine against Frostburg State and Converse. She tallied 11 points at Virginia State, Felician, and Holy Family, and 10 points against Georgian Court.

Royer not only knows how to score, setting a new career high with 16 draws in the CACC Tournament First Round game against Bridgeport. She also had double-digit draws against Frostburg State (11), and Virginia State (10). She had a season high six ground balls at Converse and a season high four caused turnovers at Bridgeport and against Chestnut Hill.

Royer is the lone member from the CACC on one of the three All-American Teams while Dominican placed two (Grace DeStasio and Madelyn Grella) on Honorable Mention All-American.
