Kari-lei Berry joins Kevin Day's staff as the assistant coach starting with the 2026 spring season. She comes home to Wilmington after head coaching stints at Delaware State and, most recently, Notre Dame of Maryland.
Berry comes to Wilmington after a six-year stint at Notre Dame of Maryland, being hired in September of 2019. She led he team to a 7-1 record in 2021, going 5-0 in the CSAC and winning the CSAC Tournament Championship and earning a bid into the NCAA Tournament. She also led her 2022 team back to the CSAC Tournament Championship game, going 8-6 overall and 5-1 in CSAC play. In six seasons at Notre Dame, Berry led her teams to 21 victories.
On top of her coaching duties at Notre Dame of Maryland, Berry was appointed to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Rules Committee starting June 2023.
At Delaware State, Berry served as both an assistant coach and head coach. She was named the Assistant Coach and defensive coordinator in November 2011. She then transitioned to head coach of the program in June 2016. She helped start the Delaware State program and was the second NCAA Division I women’s lacrosse program at a historically black college and university. She was the head coach of the Hornets for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons.
Berry returns home to Wilmington after being a two-sport student-athlete in the Green and White (2004-08), and an assistant coach for the 2009 season. She was a team captain of the lacrosse team as well as a four-year member of the women's soccer team.
Kari-lei Berry graduated from Wilmington University with a BS in Criminal Justice in 2008.
