NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team started its 2026 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule with a 21-3 victory over Caldwell on Saturday at the WU Athletics Complex.
The Wildcats, ranked 18th in the latest USA Lacrosse Magazine DII National Poll, started a four-game homestand with a major victory, scoring 17 of their 21 goals in the first half.
Senior Alea Javorowsky reached another milestone in the victory, dishing out eight assists in the game to reach 300 career points. She now has 85 career goals while ranking in the Top 10 all-time in NCAA Division II with 215 career assists.
The Wildcats scored nine goals in the first quarter with Leah Rycroft and Kirra Crowley securing first quarter hat tricks. After Rycroft scored back-to-back goals for the 3-0 lead, Caldwell converted on a free position shot to get on the board. Anastasia Giannoulis scored on free position shot and Ella Royer poured in two in the quarter, taking a 9-1 lead.
Five new Wildcats scored in the second half as Michaella Cook started the quarter with her first of the game. Tristan Holdsworth made it an 11-1 game before Caldwell stopped the 8-0 run with a goal with 10:23 to play before the half. But then the Wildcats rattled off the final six goals of the half, including goals from Poppy Fornoff, Eden Ward, and Madi Todd to make it a 17-2 lead at the half.
Alea Javorowsky's milestone point came on an assist to Leah Rycroft early in the third quarter, giving the Wildcats a 19-2 lead.
Kirra Crowley scored four goals and added two assists and five draws to lead the Wildcats offensively. Leah Rycroft and Ella Royer each had four goals while Royer added two caused turnovers and six draws as well. Tristan Holdsworth finished with three goals and two assists while Madi Todd scored a goal and dished out three assists as well.
Allison Schiavone made two first half saves to earn the win while Ashley Lawry came on and recorded four stops in the second half.
The Wildcats play their final nonconference game of the season with their next contest, hosting Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex. The opening draw is set for 4:00 p.m. against the Redhawks.
