Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 3 in Latest NCAA East Regional Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team wrapped up its regular season and now awaits the NCAA committee's decision for the NCAA East Regional Tournament. They were ranked No. 3 in the latest East Regional Poll this week.

The Wildcats earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference automatic qualification by winning the CACC Tournament in the fall. The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for Monday, May 6.

The Wildcats went 16-4 against regional opponents in 2023-24 and are ranked third in the East Region. They advanced to the NCAA National Tournament in each of the past two seasons by winning one of the East Regional Pods.

Queens (N.Y.) leads the East Region with a 12-1 in-region record. St. Thomas Aquinas is second with a 14-4 record followed by the Wildcats in third at 16-4.

The District of Columbia is ranked fourth this week with a 13-5 in-region record while Adelphi is No. 5 at 11-5. Southern New Hampshire is No. 6 with a 9-3 in-region record while New Haven rounds out the poll with an 11-4 record.

The Wildcats dropped matches to Queens, 4-3, and St. Thomas Aquinas, 5-2, this spring, but have wins over the District of Columbia, 7-0, Adelphi, 6-1, and New Haven, 7-0.

The East Regional Tournament is scheduled to begin May 10 at a site to be determined.
