MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team made their farthest trip of the fall season on Sunday and came home with a 6-1 victory at Post, playing at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club.
The win is the 18th consecutive regular season conference win for the Wildcats, dating back to October 3, 2023, in a loss to Jefferson. The Wildcats remain unbeaten at 3-0 while the loss drops Post to 0-5 overall, 0-2 in CACC play on the season.
The doubles pairs got the Wildcats off to a strong start on Sunday, with all three teams coming up with wins. Ming-Fu Chen and Molly Carlberg won at No.1. doubles, 6-1, Elena Camacho and Liza Sylka won at No. 2, 6-2, and Gloria Barcaro and Siana MacDonald won at No. 3, 6-1.
The Wildcats then took five of the six singles matches, with all five wins coming in straight sets against the Eagles. Gloria Barcaro won handily at No. 6 singles, 6-0 and 6-1, while Ines Oliveira also posted a shutout in the first set, 6-0 and 6-4, and No. 5 singles.
Liza Sylka won at No. 4 singles, 6-1 and 6-2, while Siana MacDonald won at No. 1 singles and Molly Carlberg won at No. 3 singles by identical scores, 6-2 and 6-1.
A pair of undefeated teams will battle this week, as Jefferson (3-0) comes to Wilmington's Delcastle Tennis Club on Wednesday afternoon. The first serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
