MONSEY, N.Y. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team got back to dual match action on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Dominican for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match and coming home with a 5-2 victory.
The Wildcats bounced back from their first CACC loss since 2023 with a win on Tuesday, earning the doubles point and then winning all four singles matches the team took part in. With the win, the Wildcats are now 4-1 overall and 4-1 in CACC play.
The Wildcats took two of three doubles matches for the point, starting with Molly Carlberg and Gloria Barcaro blanking their opponent, 6-0, at No. 3 doubles. Liza Sylka and Siana MacDonald earned the points with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles as well.
Wilmington then won all four singles matches they competed in. After a run to the ITA East Regional Championship ending on Monday, Siana MacDonald needed to retire at No.1 singles on Tuesday. Ines Oliveira also defaulted for the Wildcats at No. 6 singles.
Molly Carlberg won her match at No. 2 singles, going 6-3 and 6-0 for the win. Liza Sylka, who battled into the ITA East Regional Championship semifinal round, won at No. 3 singles, 6-1 and 6-2. Elena Camacho easily won at No. 4 singles, 6-1 and 6-0, while Gloria Barcaro finished off the 5-2 victory with a straight set win as well, winning 7-6 (7-4) and 6-4.
The Wildcats' busy week continues Thursday, as they host Chestnut Hill at the Delcastle Tennis Center. The first serve is set for 2:00 p.m. in Wilmington.
