WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team won every set in a 7-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Post on Wednesday afternoon at the Delcastle Tennis Center.
The Wildcats have now won four matches in a row and are 7-1 overall and 7-1 in CACC play with two regular season matches remaining.
Wednesday started with the Wildcats winning both doubles matches against the short-handed Eagles. The Eagles defaulted at No. 3 doubles and the Wildcats only needed to win one of the remaining two to earn the point. Ines Oliveira and Siana MacDonald quickly took care of that with a 6-0 win at No. 2. Liza Sylka and Elena Camacho made it a sweep in the doubles with a 6-4 win at No. 1 as well.
A default at No. 6 put the Wildcats up 2-0 before singles play started. Elena Camacho set the wheels in motion for the Wildcats, winning at No. 4 singles, 6-2 and 6-0. Ming-Fu Chen then took down Laura Kotala at No. 3 singles, 6-1 and 6-1. Gloria Barcaro kept the momentum going with a 6-2 and 6-1 win at No. 5 and then Siana MacDonald finished off Julie Merlin at No. 1, 6-1 and 6-3. Molly Carlberg completed the shutout for the Wildcats with a 6-3 and 6-1 victory at No. 2.
The Wildcats now prepare for the only team that has given them a loss so far this season, as they head to Jefferson on Saturday. The match is set for 12:00 p.m. in Philadelphia.
