Tennis Wraps Regular Season With 4-3 Victory over Adelphi

WILMINGTON, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's tennis team wrapped up its 2025-26 regular season in fine fashion on Wednesday, defeating Adelphi, 4-3, at the Delcastle Tennis Center.

The Wildcats wrap up the regular season with a 15-4 record and now wait to see where they are placed for the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament in May. The Wildcats earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's automatic qualification into the postseason after winning the CACC tournament in the fall. The NCAA Selection Date is set for May 4.

On Wednesday, the Wildcats got off on the right foot by winning the doubles point. Ming-Fu Chen and Gloria Barcaro started doubles play with a 6-2 win at No. 3. Adelphi stayed alive with a win at No. 2 doubles, but then Ines Oliveira and Molly Carlberg pulled out the win at No. 1 doubles, 7-6 (7-4), to take the point.

Singles started with Adelphi tying the match, 1-1, with a win at No. 2. Ming-Fu Chen put the Wildcats back on top with a 6-3 and 6-0 win at No. 5 singles and then Molly Carlberg made it a 3-1 match with a win at No. 4 singles, 6-2 and 6-3.

Adelphi closed the gap with a win at No. 1 singles, but then Gloria Barcaro closed out the team victory, 4-2, with a win at No. 6 singles, 7-6 (7-4) and 7-5. Adelphi added a third set victory at No. 3 singles to complete the scoring.

The East Regional Tournament is set to begin on May 9 at a site to be determined.
