Four Women’s Tennis Standouts Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

NEWARK, Del. - - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2026 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Team and four Wilmington University student-athletes were recognized as some of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Representing the Wilmington University women's tennis team on the CSC Academic All-District Team were senior Gloria Barcaro and sophomores Molly Carlberg, Ines Oliveira, and Liza Sylka. The four Wildcats represent the most among Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference programs and are among 15 total CACC student-athletes.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District nomination, the student-athlete must excel in both the field of play and the classroom. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, AND compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the games, along with several other criteria.

Gloria Barcaro (Carignano, Italy) finished her collegiate career with a 12-5 singles record this season, going 8-1 in CACC play in the fall. She was 4-1 at No. 5 singles this year, 7-4 at No. 6, and 1-0 at No. 4. In doubles play, she was 12-2 overall, going 8-1 at No. 3 doubles and 4-1 at No. 2, finishing 6-1 in the CACC. In her career, she went 28-11 in singles play, the ninth most victories in program history. Barcaro went 31-11 in doubles competition in her career, tied for sixth most doubles victories in program history. She is carrying a 3.85 cumulative GPA while studying for her MBA in Organizational Leadership.

Molly Carlberg (Vadstena, Sweden) finished her sophomore season with a 15-4 singles record, going 9-2 overall at No. 3 singles. She was 8-1 in CACC play this fall as well. She was 3-1 at No. 2 singles, 201 at No. 4, and 1-0 at No. 1. Carlberg was 10-9 overall in doubles play, but 6-2 in CACC matches. She is carrying a 3.88 cumulative GPA while studying psychology.

Ines Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) finished 5-5 in singles play this season, mainly competing at No. 5 singles with a 4-3 record. She made her mark in doubles this year, going 12-5 overall while competing at all three levels. She went 6-1 at No. 3 doubles, 4-3 at No. 2, and 2-1 at No. 1. She was 5-2 in CACC play in the fall. She is carrying a 3.90 cumulative GPA while studying video and film production.

Liza Sylka (Kyiv, Ukraine) competed at the top five singles positions this year, going 7-6 overall. She was 2-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-1 at No. 2. She was a force in doubles though, going 11-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in CACC play. She was 3-0 at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles and 5-1 at No. 2 this season. She is carrying a 3.98 cumulative GPA while studying law, policy, and political science.

The 2026 CSC Academic All-America Women's Tennis Teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 2.
