NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Wilmington University senior volleyball middle hitter Brittany Biddle has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2013, as announced today by CACC Commissioner Dan Mara.
The Claymont, Delaware native led the Wildcats to a 3-1 record on the court in the month of November, averaging a team high 2.43 kills per set in 14 games. The Wildcats defeated Concordia College and Nyack College to round out the regular season, capping a back-to-back CACC South Division Regular Season Championship run before heading into the CACC Tournament as the South Division's number one seed.
The Wildcats defeated Felician College in straight sets courtesy of Biddle's eight kills, three solo, and two block assists in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinals before falling to the eventual champion Georgian Court University in the semi-final round. The senior collected five solo and eight block assists in the four matches.
Her play on the court led to a CACC All-Conference First Team selection after earning Second Team honors in her previous three seasons. Prior to the start of the CACC Tournament Semi-finals, the Elementary Education major was also awarded the CACC's Top XIV Award for Academic Excellence for being in the semifinal round of her sport's championship with the highest grade point average (4.0) among the four teams.
Off the court, Biddle continues her work as Wilmington and the CACC's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Chair, as well as heading Wilmington University's partnership with CBS 3 Philadelphia's "Joy of Sharing" annual toy drive, benefiting the Salvation Army.
The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month is awarded from September through May to select student-athletes who excel in athletics, the classroom and the community.
