Eliza Schneider Named CACC Volleyball Co-Rookie of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Freshman Eliza Schneider helped the Wilmington University volleyball team to a 2-1 weekend at its own Wildcat Regional Invitational, being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday by the conference office.

It is the second week in a row a volleyball freshman has been named the CACC Rookie of the Week, as Schneider joins Karla Nunez-Rivera from last week.

Eliza Schneider (Hartly, Del./Smyrna) led the Wildcats with 26 kills, putting down 2.60 per set. She was also fourth on the team with 15 digs, adding two block assists for 27 points.

She finished the weekend with her best performance, putting down 12 kills while hitting .226 against Shepherd. Schneider also had a weekend's best eight digs against the Rams. She added eight kills, three digs and two blocks against Southern Connecticut State and six kills with only one error on 17 attempts and four digs against Southern New Hampshire.

Bridgeport's Paola Hernandez was named the CACC Player of the Week while her teammate Jaden Drollinger was named the CACC Setter of the Week after leading the Purple Knights to a 3-1 week. Jefferson's Liz Tanis was named the other CACC Co-Rookie of the Week with Schneider.

Schneider and Tanis will face-off against each other as the two teams meet on Wednesday night in Philadelphia to kickstart the CACC schedule. The opening serve is set for 7:00 p.m. inside the Gallagher Center.
