NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University women's volleyball team defeated Georgian Court, 3-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference showdown on Tuesday at the WU Athletics Complex, pushing their active winning streak to four games and 11-1 in their last 12 matches.

Set scores for the match were 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-18.

The win pushes the Wildcats up to 14-8, with an 8-1 conference record that is still good for tops in the CACC South Division. Georgian Court, meanwhile, slides to 6-13 on the year with a 3-5 conference record.

In the first set, the Wildcats took a 5-2 lead and never looked back. The Lions scored two to come back within one, but would never get back on top as WilmU went on a subsequent 9-1 run and landed ten kills over their next 20 scores, capped off by a Cam Justus ace, to wrap things up.

The second set was similar to the first, with a 5-4 lead turning into a much bigger one for Wilmington as they scored eight of the next nine points. The squads traded blows from there, with neither team able to run off more than two scores in a row as the set reached 22-13. Georgian scored five straight to pull within four and give the Cats a scare, but Addison Hoover got things back on track with a kill before two Lion attack errors ended the set at a margin of seven points.

The Lions didn't go down quietly, though, as they battled back from a five-point deficit in set four to give them their first set of the match on the back of a 9-1 run after the Wildcats had gone up 19-14.

Wilmington closed things out by riding an early hot streak in set four that put them up 13-4. Georgian clawed back to within four at 17-13, but over the next 13 rallies, Haley Holland and Chelsea Blaine-Agett provided an ace each, while Blaine-Agett, Hoover, and Gianna King all contributed a kill to finish off the match.

Addison Hoover picked up a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs to pace the Wildcats. Eliza Schneider and Karla Nunez-Rivera also had 10 kills, while Chelsea Blaine-Agett had 12 as she hit .400 on the night. Morgan Daniels led the team with 12 digs, and Haley Holland led the serving with five aces. Nunez-Rivera, Schneider, and Christine Covello all had block solos.

The Wildcats will be home again on Thursday as they take a break from conference play to square off against the Golden Rams of West Chester. That match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. at the WU Athletics Complex.
