NEWARK, Del. - - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2025 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team and four Wilmington University student-athletes were recognized as some of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Representing the Wilmington University volleyball team on the CSC Academic All-District Team were graduate student Chrstine Covello, junior Addison Hoover, sophomores Morgan Daniels and Eliza Schneider. The four Wildcats represent the most among Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference programs and are among 30 total CACC student-athletes.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District nomination, the student-athlete must excel in both the field of play and the classroom. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, AND compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the games, along with several other criteria. A maximum of four nominations is awarded in the sport of women's volleyball.
Christine Covello (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) played in all 33 matches for the Wildcats, leading the team with 5.21 assists per set on the season. She was also third on the team with 62 total blocks, averaging 0.48 per set for the year. She posted a season high 40 assists against Bridgeport, adding a 38-helper game against Holy Family at home. She also had a season high five blocks against Chestnut Hill and 10 digs against Bridgeport as well. After graduating from Saint Francis (Pa.), she is studying for her MBA at Wilmington, carrying a 3.94 grade point average.
Addison Hoover (West Linn, Ore.) appeared in 28 matches in her first season with the Wildcats, finishing third on the team in averaging 2.52 points per set. She was third on the team with 198 kills, second on the team with 49 aces, second on the team with 287 digs, and fifth on the team with 43 total blocks. She had a season high 16 kills at Dominican and two matches of 20 or more digs, including 21 at Chestnut Hill. She had five aces in a match three times this year. She is studying for her behavioral science degree and carries a 3.57 grade point average.
Morgan Daniels (Chillicothe, Ohio) appeared in all 33 matches for the Wildcats, taking over the main role of the libero. She led the team with 408 digs this season, averaging 3.16 per set. She was also third on the team with 43 aces this year, going for a 0.33 per set average. She had 21 games with double digit digs, including five with 20 or more digs. She had a season high 26 digs at Assumption and a season high seven aces against Southern New Hampshire. She is studying for her health sciences degree, carrying a 3.96 grade point average.
Eliza Schneider (Hartley, Del.) appeared in all 33 matches this fall in her sophomore season, earning All-CACC honors for the second time in her career. She was second on the team with 353 kills on the year, averaging 2.76 per set as an outside hitter. She was also second on the team with 381 points, going for 43 total blocks as well. She had 20 matches with double digit kills, including two matches with a career-high 19 kills. She first collected 19 at Dominican and then again at Bloomsburg. She hit a season's high .519 (15 kills, one error, 27 attempts) in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinal against Dominican. She is going for her psychology degree and carries a 3.96 grade point average.
The 2025 CSC Academic All-American Teams will be released on Tuesday, January 13.
