NEWARK, Del. - - The trend to have twins on the Wilmington University women's cross country team continues into next season as head coach Keith Jones has announced the additions of Jeanette and Nikkie Beers during the early signing period this week.

As one set of twins graduate from the program (Megan and Morgan Ferrick), the Beers will join the Wildcats for the 2016-17 season. Both are three-time letterwinners in cross country and track at Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Del.

The Beers rounded out their cross country seasons this past fall at Caesar Rodney, helping the team to Kent County and Henlopen Conference Championships, as well as a fourth place finish at the DIAA Division I Cross Country Championship, the best among the state's southern teams.

Jeanette Beers was named Second Team All-Kent County as a sophomore in 2013 as well as a three-time honoree on the Caesar Rodney Athletic Honor Roll.

Nikkie Beers earned First Team All-Kent County this past fall for finishing fourth in 21:13 in the championship before earning Second team All-Henlopen Conference for placing 10th in 21:23 in the conference championship. Nikkie was also a Second Team All-Kent County and All-Henlopen Conference runner as a junior. She also placed third in the conference in the 3200-meter event at the track championships as a junior. Nikkie is also a three-time Caesar Rodney Athletic Honor Roll recipient.

The Wildcats finished fourth at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championships this past fall, as well as 19th at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championships. The team returns three of the team's top five scorers from both of the postseason events next season.
