NEW ORLEANS, La. - - Following a fourth place finish at the Fourth Annual Bruce Kirsh Cup this past weekend, the Wilmington University men's cross country team jumped up three spots to sixth in the latest US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Regional Poll.
After holding tight at No. 9 in the Preseason and Week 1 Regional Rankings, the men's cross country team moved up three spots in this week's poll, jumping Merrimack, Roberts Wesleyan, and Franklin Pierce.
American International moved up one spot to top the East Region, flipping spots with Stonehill. Bentley remains in third followed by Southern New Hampshire and Adelphi. Wilmington is sixth followed by Franklin Pierce, Roberts Wesleyan, Merrimack, and Le Moyne.
The Wildcats finished fourth in the unofficial East Region Preview Meet in Hopkinton, N.H. Sophomore Isaac Ndirangu earned medalist honors at the event, besting the rest of collegiate runners by 12.5 seconds. Senior Ken Fontal finished seventh overall at the meet as well.
The Wildcats are off this weekend but return to action on Saturday, October 1 when they compete in the Don Cathcart Invitational in Salisbury, Md.
