NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University cross country teams open its 2022 slate this weekend at the Philly Metro and the men will go into the event ranked No. 8 in the East Region according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Wildcats have five meets to prepare for the postseason, including two in September and three in October. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship is set for Sunday, October 30 on Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
The men finished last season ranked 10th in the East Region by the USTFCCCA, placing 10th in the East Regional Championship out of 21 competing teams. They will start this season ranked No. 8 ahead of Le Moyne (9) and Bentley (10).
East Region powers American International and Southern Connecticut State top the preseason rankings while Franklin Pierce, Roberts Wesleyan, and Adelphi round out the Top 5. Thomas Jefferson, the only other CACC program in the Top 10, is ranked sixth followed by Assumption, Wilmington, Le Moyne, and Bentley.
Southern New Hampshire leads the women's preseason rankings with Jefferson (8) and Felician (9) being the two CACC programs who made the Top 10.
