NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Following his collegiate debut at the Philly Metro, Wilmington University freshman Ethyn Peck was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Peck and the Wildcats finished second at the 2023 Philly Metro last weekend, held on Belmont Plateau in Fairmont Park. Peck and the Wildcats picked up 63 points to finish second behind Rowan's 49 points. The Wildcats were the top of eight CACC teams in the field.
Running in his collegiate debut, Ethyn Peck (Friendsville, Md.) finished 15th overall in a field of 133 runners, earning the team 13 points. He ran the 8k course in 28:57.1 with a 5:47.5-mile pace. Peck was the top freshman finisher from the CACC and the third freshman overall to cross the finish line.
Peck's teammate Dan Wyshinski (Pennsville, N.J.) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after finishing fourth overall for three points. On the women's side, Tiffany Banning (Middletown, Del.) was also named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after finishing 14th overall in the women's 5k event.
The Wildcats head to the DII/DIII Challenge this weekend, hosted by Kutztown University. They will run the Farm Course on the campus of Kutztown on Friday afternoon. The men will start the day with a 5:00 p.m. opening gun.
