NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - Twenty-two student-athletes representing 10 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference member institutions have been named to the 2024 CACC Men's Cross-Country All-Academic Team, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara announced today.
To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 at the end of the immediately preceding term (may include summer for fall-sport participants), must be enrolled for at least two full-time semesters at his/her current institution, and must be a second-year student-athlete at his/her current institution. The CACC All-Academic Team was instituted during the 2004-05 academic year.
Wilmington University, the 2024 CACC men's cross-country champion, topped the conference by placing six runners on the All-Academic Team. Meeting the qualifying criteria was four-time honoree Dan Wyshinski with a 3.79 graduate degree grade point average, three-time honoree Hayward Boutte with a 3.54 cumulative GPA, and two-time honoree Trent Taylor with a 3.79 cumulative GPA. Joining the team for the first time were Zach Souders with a 3.87 GPA, Carter Sparwasser with a perfect 4.00 GPA, and Joe Volk with a 3.82 GPA.
Three members of this year's team maintain GPAs of 3.90 or better. David Castro of Dominican University New York and Carter Sparwasser of Wilmington carry perfect 4.00 marks, while Holy Family's Mike McGerry owns a 3.98 GPA.
More than half of the 2024 honorees are repeat winners. Wilmington's Dan Wyshinski is being honored for the fourth time. Post University's Drew Paskanik and Haywood Boutte of Wilmington are three-time winners. Nine others are being recognized for the second time.
