NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's cross country team had another strong showing at the Delaware Invitational on Friday morning and is now ranked No. 6 in this week's United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association East Region Rankings.
The Wildcats won the UD Invite with 37 points, led by Julian Jones' second-place finish. Carter Sparwasser placed fifth overall while Reggie Hernandez and Skyler Pearson also finished inside the Top 10 with a seventh and 10th place finish, respectively.
In the USTFCCCA Rankings this week, the Wildcats dropped a spot to No. 6. Jefferson and Saint Michael's jumped the Wildcats, each moving up two spots in the standings. Southern Connecticut State moved up a spot to take over the top of the poll, while Roberts Wesleyan drops a spot to No. 2 this week. Assumption moves up to thre,e followed by Jefferson, Saint Michael's, and Wilmington.
Adelphi moved up a spot to No. 7 while Southern New Hampshire enters the poll at No. 8. Bentley fell six spots to No. 9, while Franklin Pierce rounds out this week's poll, falling a spot to No. 10.
The Wildcats travel to central Pennsylvania this weekend, competing in the Lock Haven Invitational. The men will begin Saturday with a 10:00 a.m. gun.
