Women’s Cross Country Moves Up One Spot to No. 8 in Latest USTFCCCA Regional Poll

NEWARK, Del. - - Competing in a tough NCAA Division I race hosted by the University of Delaware, the Wilmington University women's cross country team moved up one spot to No. 8 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday.

The Wildcats finished fifth overall at the Delaware Invitational on Friday, but were the first NCAA Division II squad in the standings. They earned 120 points to finish ahead of Goldey-Beacom and the District of Columbia. Sammy Banning led the Wildcats with a 19th place finish, while Tiffany Banning placed 22nd overall for the Wildcats.

The top three teams in this week's poll all remained the same, anchored by Roberts Wesleyan, Southern Connecticut State, and Jefferson. D'Youville, Daemen, Saint Anselm, Adelphi, Wilmington, and Southern New Hampshire all moved up a spot in this week's poll. Bentley rounds out the Top 10 this week, dropping six spots to sit at No. 10.

The Wildcats travel to central Pennsylvania this weekend, competing in the Lock Haven Invitational. The women are second to run on Saturday, starting at approximately 10:45 a.m.
