NEWARK, Del. - - The Wilmington University men's cross country team flipped positions with Saint Michael's, moving up one spot to No. 5 in this week's United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association East Region Rankings.
The Wildcats ran at the Lock Haven Invitational last weekend, with seven Wildcats setting a new personal record on an 8K course, including Julian Jones who broke the WilmU record on an 8K course. Jones finished ninth overall, running in 24:46.80 to lead the Wildcats to an 11th place finish.
Wilmington and Saint Michael's were the only teams to move in this week's East Region Poll, flip-flopping positions. Southern Connecticut State, Roberts Wesleyan, Assumption, and Jefferson all remain the same in the Top 4. Wilmington jumped one spot to No. 5 while Saint Michael's slipped a spot to No. 6. Adelphi, Southern New Hampshire, Bentley, and Franklin Pierce all remained in order to round out the East Region.
The Wildcats have one final meet prior to the postseason, traveling to Kentucky this weekend to take part in the Louisville Classic. The race will be held on Saturday at Tom Sawyer State Park.
