KENOSHA, Wisc. - - The record-setting season orchestrated by Wilmington University cross country team senior Julian Jones had one final run on Saturday, finishing 99th overall at the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship on the Wayne E. Dannehl Course on the campus of Wisconsin Parkside.
The 99th place finish by Julian Jones (Elkton, Md.) in the National Championship becomes a new men's cross country record for not only the Wildcats, but also the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in the NCAA era. He is now the only male to finish inside the Top 100.
Julian Jones finished 99th out of 259 finishers on Saturday, concluding the 10K course in 31:40.0. He was the second member from the East Region to cross the line, trailing only Southern Connecticut State's Jonathan Volpe who finished 41at overall with a time of 30:43.1. Volpe won the East Region Championship as well, the only one to finish ahead of Jones in the regional race. Adams State senior Kidus Begashaw won the individual National Championship with a time of 29:38.8.
Jones' 99th place finish bests former Wildcat Richie Mitten who placed 134th overall in the 2013 National Championship. Mark Corrigan placed 144th in the 2018 National Championship, earning an individual spot as well. Caldwell's Joey Datta placed 194th overall in last year's National Championship to round out the CACC at the National Championships.
On the women's side, Wildcat Althea Davidson was an individual at the 2012 National Championship, placing 130th overall. The only CACC runner to place better than Jones was Post's Kendall Fitzgerald, finishing 91st overall in 2017 and 50th overall in 2018.
Wingate won the 2025 NCAA DII Men's Cross Country National Championship with 62 points. Adams State finished second overall with 71 points, followed by Colorado School of Mines in third place with 121 points. East Region qualifiers Southern Connecticut State finished 29th with 695 points, Roberts Wesleyan finished 33rd with 980 points, and Franklin Pierce finished 34th overall with 1,096 points.
