Caleb Matthews Lands on 2022-23 CACC Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn.  - - Twenty-two (22) student-athletes on Tuesday were named to the 2022-23 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Ten of the 13 CACC schools that compete in the sport were represented on the All-Academic Team.

To be eligible for CACC All-Academic status, a student-athlete must: a) Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of immediate preceding term (may include summer for fall sport participants); b) Minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) Student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution.

Caleb Matthews represents the Wildcats, making his third appearance on the CACC All-Academic Team. He boasts a 3.83 cumulative GPA while studying business management.

Chestnut Hill College and Thomas Jefferson University led the way with four honorees apiece while Bloomfield College and University of Bridgeport were next with three student-athletes making the squad. 

NOTES ON ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM:

  • Three student-athletes notched GPAs of 3.90 or higher including Nik Schlipf (Alliance University, 3.96 GPA), UB's Ryo Kobayashi (3.99) and his teammate Mason Williams (3.98)
  • Eight student-athletes were placed on the academic team for the third time in their respective careers.
  • Three were named to the CACC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team for the second time in their respective careers.
  • Six of the eight teams to qualify for the CACC post-season tournament were represented on the all-academic team.
