NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - For the fourth time this season, Wilmington University men's basketball freshman Jaylin Horsey has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Jaylin Horsey (Wilmington, Del./William Penn) helped the Wildcats to a 1-1 week last week, falling in a close battle at Jefferson, 79-77, before storming back to defeat Holy Family, 76-75, on Saturday.
In those two games, Horsey came off the bench to score 18.0 points per game, hitting eight three-pointers, and going 10-of-12 from the foul line.
In the loss at Jefferson, Horsey scored 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting, hitting three three-pointers and going 5-of-6 from the foul line. He then scored 20 points in the win at Holy Family, hitting three three-pointers in the second half comeback. He went 5-for-11 from deep in the game, adding 5-for-6 from the foul line.
Horsey was named a Co-Rookie of the Week with Goldey-Beacom's Tre Powell who averaged 14.5 points and 4.0 assists in two games last week as well. Bridgeport's Aliou Cisse was named the CAC Player of the Week while Dominican's Emmanuel Smith was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Wildcats' Izaiah Credle was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week.
The Wildcats have the midweek bye this week and return to action on Saturday when Chestnut Hill comes to Newark for a CACC South Division battle starting at 3:00 p.m.
