NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - After leading the Wilmington University men's basketball team to a pair of victories to open the 2025-26 season last weekend, Jaiden Guy and Denim Perkins were named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week on Monday.
The Wildcats defeated the District of Columbia, 93-73, in the season opener and then came back to defeat D'Youville, 84-83, in overtime on Saturday to move to 2-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
Jaiden Guy (Townsend, Del.) was named the CACC Player of the Week after leading the Wildcats in scoring 22.5 points on 59.3 percent shooting and 8.0 rebounds per game over the weekend. Denim Perkins (Dover, Del.) was named the CACC Defensive Player of the Week after coming up with 10 steals on top of 20 points and 11 assists in the two games.
Jaiden Guy busted out of the gates in his Wilmington debut, scoring 30 points on 13-of-19 shooting in the win over the Firebirds. He also added seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the season-opening win. He then scored 15 points while going 9-of-11 form the foul line against D'Youville, adding nine rebounds, four assists, and a steal in the overtime victory.
Denim Perkins had an off offensive night in the opener, just scoring three points on 1-of-5 shooting, but stepped up defensively, swiping five steals to go with three rebounds and five assists. He then scored 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting against D'Youville on Saturday, adding five more steals, six assists, and two rebounds
Georgian Court's Jaycen Santucci was named the CACC Rookie of the Week to round out the weekly awards to open the season.
The Wildcats have their home opener on Wednesday night when they welcome Millersville to the WU Athletics Complex. The opening tip is set for approximately 7:00 p.m., following the women's game against Lincoln (Pa.) at 5:00 p.m.
