NEWARK, Del. - - Four early goals propelled 12th-ranked Molly to a win over the Wilmington University men's lacrosse team at the WU Athletics Complex on Saturday, with the final score settling at 13-9 in favor of the Lions.

Wilmington drops to 2-2 on the year, with both of their losses coming to ranked opponents following a loss to Mercy last weekend. Molloy improves to 2-1 on the young season, with an overtime win over eighth-ranked Pace under their belt as well.

Molloy opened the scoring with three goals in less than a three-minute span, putting them up 3-0 by the 10:39 mark. They scored again to make it 4-0 before Wilmington showed some offensive life later in the first quarter, with Andrew Dzubak putting two into the back of the net to make it a two-goal game after fifteen minutes.

Josh Weston scored one of his own a little less than two minutes into the second to cut the deficit to one, but the Wildcat scoring went quiet the rest of the first half, allowing the Lions to build a 7-3 lead at halftime.

Carter Earl got on the board to open the third quarter, but Molloy shot back with two more goals. Dzubak tallied another on the man-advantage with 30 seconds left in the quarter, but Wilmington's defense couldn't hold off another Lion goal just 20 seconds later.

After going into the fourth down 10-5, the Wildcats were able to score four more goals, but Molloy had three in the period to keep them comfortably ahead the whole time. The Lions ended the game with possession over the final three minutes following Earl's third goal, silencing any further attempt at a comeback by Wilmington.

Andrew Dzubak and Carter Earl provided the bulk of the offense for the Wildcats, with four and three goals, respectively. Josh Lovely and Josh Weston each added a goal as well. Earl was the only Wildcat to post multiple assists with two. Tyler Quinn led the team with seven ground balls, followed by Brian McGarvey and Quinn Tracy with five. Quinn caused a team-high five turnovers as part of the team's 20 total, though they turned the ball over 23 times themselves.

The Wildcats will be home again sooner than expected after their game at Caldwell later in March was moved to be at the WU Athletics Complex on Wednesday. That game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
