2024 Season (Freshman): Played in 14 games, starting two. He took one shot and had one assist, both coming at Georgian Court on October 8th.

Prior to Wilmington: Attended Hofstra University for his freshman year, where he redshirted.

High School: Attended McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, Georgia, where he helped lead his team to the 2022 State Championship. He was named the 2022 Georgia All-Star MVP, and in 2023 was named the 5A Region and State Player of the Year, as well as the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year. Additionally, he was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Matthew John Yi - son of Sunny Yi and John Yi. Has an older sister - Stephanie, and a younger brother - Andrew. Majoring in Health Sciences at Wilmington University, hoping to become a sports physiotherapist. Has a superstition to hop twice with his right foot before stepping on the field - his favorite movie of all time is How to Train Your Dragon - listens to Danza Kuduro by Don Omar as his final song before a match.
