NEWARK, Del. - - The College Sports Communicators announced its 2025 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team and four Wilmington University student-athletes were recognized as some of the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Representing the Wilmington University men's soccer team on the CSC Academic All-District Team were junior Sam Harrison, and sophomores Mylan Le Baut, Michiharu Takanashi, and Matthew Yi. The four Wildcats represent the second most among Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference programs and are among 38 total CACC student-athletes.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District nomination, the student-athlete must excel in both the field of play and the classroom. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, AND compete in 90 percent of the institution's games or start in at least 66 percent of the games, along with several other criteria.
Sam Harrison (Seaford, England) appeared in 20 games in his first season with the Wildcats, starting on the back line in the final nine contests of the season. The Wildcats went 5-2-2 in his nine starts, including a 0-0 shutout in the NCAA Super Region 1 Second Round game. He had one assist on the year, and it came on the game-winning goal in double overtime against Felician in the CACC Tournament. He is carrying a 4.00 grade point average while pursuing an applied business degree.
Michiharu Takanashi (Ota City, Japan) was a First Team All-CACC forward this season, appearing in all 21 games while making 19 starts. He finished tied for second in the CACC with 10 goals on the year, adding five assists for 25 points, ranking tied for second overall in the conference as well. He had two goals and an assist for five points against St. Thomas Aquinas, and a goal and an assist in the NCAA Tournament against Roberts Weselyan. He is carrying a 3.92 grade point average while pursuing a marketing degree.
Mylan Le Baut (Montreal, Canada) started all 21 games as an outside back for the Wildcats in his sophomore season. He dished out assists in games at Post and in the NCAA Tournament against Roberts Wesleyan. He helped the defense to only allow 28 goals on the year and a 1.29 goals against average. He is carrying a 3.86 grade point average while studying for a business analytics degree.
Matthew Yi (Peachtree City, Ga.) played in 20 games in his second season with the Wildcats, making three starts in the midfield. His lone goal of the year came in the CACC Tournament against Felician, blasting a knuckling shot from 25 yards out to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. He is carrying a 3.76 grade point averaging while studying for a health sciences degree.
The CSC Academic All-American Teams will be released on Tuesday, December 16.
