NEW CASTLE, DE -- Wilmington University is pleased to announce that Danielle Niccoli (Kenwood HS/Sparrows Point, MD), Klaudia Furman (Catholic HS/Baltimore, MD), Kory Webster (Bel Air HS/Abingdon, MD), Amber Smith (Aberdeen HS/Aberdeen, MD), and Jessica Graybeal (Havre de Grace HS/Havre de Grace, MD) have earned All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse honors.
Niccoli, a junior midfielder was named CACC Player of the Year, along with garnering First-Team All-Conference honors. She led the team in goals (43), assists (27), and points (70), and ranked third in the conference in points per game (4.12), and stands ninth with 2.53 goals per contest. Niccoli is also the conference leader in draw controls per game (3.62). She recorded her 100th career goal earlier this season, and holds the school record for career draw controls. A first-team All-CACC pick last season, Danielle has recorded 12 multiple-goal games thus far in 2010, and eight multi-assist contests.
Sophomore defenders Klaudia Furman and Kory Webster were also First-Team All-CACC selections. They anchored a defense that led the CACC in caused turnovers per game (12.88), and ranked second in the conference in goals against average (10.66/game). Webster was an honorable mention selection last season.
Senior goalkeeper Amber Smith, along with sophomore midfielder Jessica Graybeal, each earned Second-Team All-Conference honors. Smith posted a 10-7 record this season, while notching a .440 save percentage. She was second in the CACC in goals against average (10.15/game), and recorded the league's only shutout victory. Graybeal, was second on the team in scoring, recording 27 goals and 14 assists. She ranked 10th in the conference in assists per game (10.15), and let the squad in free-position goals (6).
These five student-athletes helped the Wildcats to a 7-5 record in the CACC and an overall mark of 10-7. Wilmington finished the regular season in third place in the conference, and will take on the second seeded Tigers of Holy Family University in the first round of the CACC Tournament on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM. The tournament will be held at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.
