NEWARK, Del. - - Eboni Bradshaw scored her first collegiate career hat trick while leading the Wilmington University women's soccer team to a 7-0 victory over Lincoln in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest on Saturday at the WU Athletics Complex.
It is the first hat trick for the Wildcats (6-1-3, 3-0-2 CACC) since Brianna Wons scored four goals at Lincoln last season. Manuela Restrepo scored three goals at Post during the 2023 season, being the last hat trick against someone other than Lincoln University.
Amelia Aquino got the scoring started in the 11th minute, finishing off a tight ball into the box from Evelyn Payne. It is her first goal of the season for the junior, and the third of her career.
Eboni Bradshaw started her scoring in the 28th minute, getting a central pass from Aquino at the top of the box. Her first touch put her into the box alone with the keeper, and she finished it off for her sixth of the season. Bradshaw then created the third goal, getting deep into the box on the right side. She turned it back and found a trailing Claudia Gillum and she went one-time up and over the goalkeeper for her first goal as a Wildcat in the 29th minute. Bradshaw then finished off the first half scoring with a long run down the middle of the field, starting on the Wildcats' own half of the field. After the long run, Bradshaw slipped one under the goalkeeper for the 4-0 lead.
Eboni Bradshaw started the second half off by completing her hat trick, finishing off a great run and cross from Evelyn Payne in the 68th minute. Payne went down the left side and played a left-footed ball into the box. Bradshaw took the ball out of the air and volleyed it up and over the keeper for the 5-0 lead.
The Wildcats made it 6-0 in the 77th minute, finishing off a great run and cross from Sophia Filipowski. Going down the right side, Filipowski played it back and across the box, finding Mary Kahraman. Kahraman's first attempt was saved, but Cayley Winters was there to clean up the rebound, scoring her second of the season.
Sophia Filipowski was then rewarded for her strong play all afternoon, scoring her first goal of the season in the 86th minute. Wilmington goalkeeper Bella Mazzone played a long ball over the top to a wide-open Filipowski down the right side. Filipowski finished off the run with a goal inside the near post, capping the scoring for the day, 7-0.
The Wildcats led in shots, 26-4, and corners, 7-1. Bella Mazzone made two saves for her first career solo shutout, also picking up an assist.
