Prior to Wilmington: Attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama, for three years. She played 13 games in 2022, with one shot taken in 350 minutes, followed by a 2024 season with seven games played, with two starts covering 141 minutes after not playing in 2023.
High School: Attended Oceanside Collegiate Academy in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, where she played four years on Varsity. She was named SCHSL AAA All-State Player once and won three SCHSL AAA Championships, and in 2019, helped her team to an ECNL National Playoff Quarterfinal finish.
Personal: Claudia Esperanza Gillum - daughter of Maritza Roncancio and Jeremy Gillum. Has an older sister - Marianella, and a younger brother - Joaquin. All four members of her immediate family have played collegiate soccer - Maritza and Jeremy at the College of Charleston - Marianella at Winthrop University - Joaquin at Spartanburg Methodist College. Obtained her Bachelor’s in Communications from Alabama State and is obtaining her Master’s in Digital Communications from Wilmington University. From Charleston, South Carolina. Enjoys cooking when she’s not playing soccer - says her spirit animal is a bunny rabbit - has a superstition to not split the pole.
