WORCESTER, Mass. - - The Wilmington University volleyball team has now won 11 of its last 12 matches, defeating Southern New Hampshire and Assumption on Saturday in nonconference action on the road inside Andrew Laska Gymnasium.
Set scores against Southern New Hampshire were 25-10, 25-13, and 25-13.
Set scores against Assumption were 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-22.
Match vs. SNHU:
The Wildcats hit a season high .359 in the match, putting down 39 kills with only six errors on 92 attempts. It is only the second time this season the Wildcats hit over .300, and the first time since September 19 against Franklin Pierce. The Wildcats had 13 aces in the game.
Eliza Schneider finished the match with 14 kills, hitting .407 with only three errors. Karla Nunez-Rivera had eight kills with only one error, hitting .304. Makailah Ford added seven kills while hitting .375. Morgan Daniels had a match high 16 digs to go with seven service aces while Christine Covello dished out 23 assists. Gianna King led with five blocks, two coming as solo blocks.
Match vs. Assumption:
The Wildcats didn't hit as well against Assumption as they did earlier in the day, but they still hit .201 and only committed 15 errors against the Greyhounds. They also out-blocked the Greyhounds, 9-5, forcing them into 24 errors while only hitting .188.
Karla Nunez-Rivera led the Wildcats with 13 kills and 14 digs while Eliza Schneider added 11 kills, seven digs, and two solo blocks. Kyleigh Hayes had a career match with nine kills and only one errors, hitting .364, while adding three total blocks. Gianna King tacked on eight kills while hitting .278 to go with five total blocks. Morgan Daniels led with 26 digs while Gabby Barth added 22. Haley Holland had three of the team's six aces in the win and Chrstine Covello dished out 27 assists.
