    A pair of losses on Friday in the NCAA Division II East Region 2 Tournament has the Wilmington University baseball team’s season come to end, falling to Felician, 10-6, in the winner’s bracket game and then to Molloy, 12-5, in an elimination game at Wilson Field.

    A seven-run bottom of the fifth turned the game around for #WilmUBaseball in the opening round of the NCAA Division II East Region 2 Tournament on Saturday, coming back to defeat Molloy, 14-5, at Wilson Field. After Molloy scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead, the Wildcats (37-20) responded with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth, reclaiming command of the opening game of the NCAA Regional. Scott Borgmann worked the final 4.2 innings in relief to earn the win, not allowing a run on three hits and four walks. He left the bases loaded in the seventh and two more on base in the eighth to keep the Wildcats in the lead. He is now 8-2 on the year. Brandon Grygo went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, adding two RBI. His first hit of the game was his 81st of the season, setting a new Wilmington single season program record. Chase Fleming and Josearmando Diaz each had two hits while Nick Classie, Cam Trego, and Garrett Quinn all had two RBI in the game. Tom Hill and Justin Lock on the call. Produced by Nathan Foltz.

    The pitching duo of Steve Schenning and Scott Borgmann lifted #WilmUBaseball into the CACC Tournament Championship game, holding down Jefferson, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at Wilson Field. Steve Schenning went the first five innings before Scott Borgmann pitched the final four frames of shutout baseball. Borgmann was aided by a pair of double plays late in the game, striking out two while only allowing five hits for the win, improving to 7-2. Brandon Grygo batted 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and two RBI. Shawn Edevane went 2-for-4 as well while four other Wildcats had one hit each. Tom Hill on the call, produced by Nathan Foltz.

    For the 10th time under head coach Brian August, #WilmUBaseball sits atop the CACC, defeating Felician, 20-3, to win the Conference Tournament on Saturday at Wilson Field. With the win, the Wildcats earn the CACC’s automatic qualification into the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. They await their seeding and who they will play with the NCAA Selection Show scheduled for Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. on NCAA.com. Head coach Brian August and the Wildcats have now won 10 CACC Tournament Championships in the NCAA era, adding one CACC Tournament Championship while still a member of the NAIA for 11 overall. It was another back-and-forth affair on Saturday as both teams always had an answer. The Wildcats (33-20) had the last laugh though, hosting and hitting in the bottom of the ninth.
